TEMS™ Investigation 22.3 Release Note

Important Information

Disabling Wi-Fi for Mobile Network Testing

Before using a device for mobile network data service testing, be sure to turn off Wi-Fi on the device. If Wi-Fi is enabled, the device may run data transfers over Wi-Fi rather than over the mobile network it is camping on (even if a correct APN has been entered).

Keeping Down Logfile Size When Running Data Services on Qualcomm and Samsung Chipset Based Devices

This section applies to Qualcomm chipset-based and Samsung chipset-based devices, unless otherwise stated.

It is strongly recommended to follow these steps, since otherwise the PC processing load will become excessive.

· When testing data services only, use a Log Configuration activity with the option “Optimized for Data KPI Reports” selected.

· For Qualcomm chipset devices, you can alternatively either disable the DPL log (0x11EB) or set USB mode to RNDIS+DM+MODEM. Be aware that in RNDIS+DM+MODEM mode it is not possible to apply certain control functions such as RAT and band lock. In TEMS™ Investigation the DPL log is by default turned off in RNDIS+DM+MODEM mode.

· When testing both VoLTE and data services concurrently, use a Log Configuration script activity with the option “Optimized for Voice/Data KPI Reports” selected.

New features

ODM HTTP PUT testing

New script setting allows usage of HTTP PUT when running HTTP upload. All Messages, Events and Information Elements are the same with HTTP POST.

Note: This feature requires ODM version 1.171 which is planned for release on Dec. 14th 2020.

PCTEL MXflex: Added Channel Matrix for 2x2 and 4x2 MIMO

User is now able to perform LTE Signal Scan with Channel Matrix for 2x2 and 4x2 MIMO with 2x2 channel matrix measurement license option (MXflex only).

PCTEL Scanning - Cable Loss during NR mmWave Scanning

Two parameters were added to NR Signal Scan so that users can enter the antenna gain & cable loss for mmWave antennas to compensate for each scanner measurement.

PCTEL: Added SIB24 and SIB25 support in eTOPN scan

PCTEL SIB24, SIB25 has been added in LTE Signal Scan when "System Information" setting is enabled. Network which enabled with the above SIB messages will be decoded in L3 message window.

Rohde & Schwarz: Add DSS support

DSS (Dynamic Shared Spectrum) tolerant mode has been added as a new parameter in LTE Signal Scan on TSME, TSME6 and TSMW scanners. DSS tolerant mode ensures correct LTE measurements in case the LTE carrier frequency is being used for DSS. The mode delays measurement results until the SIB2 has been decoded and configures the LTE scanner not to measure on subframes which are not used for LTE.

Note: ViCom 20.2 or later is required to use DSS tolerant mode.

PCTEL Scanner information optimized when used as preferred GPS

Reduced log file size and reduced load time in some cases when using PCTEL Scanner as preferred GPS.

PCTEL MX: Spectrum Scan on MXflex, to set range of frequency

Added an equipment property to set the frequency range of different scanner antenna ports. It is applicable to MXflex, HBflex and IBflex. User can set the minimum/maximum frequency of each supported antenna port.

License verification enhancements at start-up- with detailed error information

TEMS Investigation and TEMS Paragon will now provide better information what to do when it has not had contact with a license server for more than 5 days and cannot start.

Add HTTP Data Transfer Cutoff Ratio Method A and B

Added KPIs for HTTP Data Transfer Cutoff Ratio Method A and Method B. Previously the methods could not be distinguished between. This is a requirement for complying with ETSI TS 102 250-2 V2.6.1 (2017-10) section 6.8.8.

Warning when "On Failure" equals "Continue script execution

Default error handling for scripts is now “Stop Script Execution”, changed from “Continue Script Execution”. Additionally, when a script is validated in Service Script Control Designer it will warn the user when the old handling is applied.

Additional IEs Samsung “Serving Cell SS RSRP” and “Serving Cell SSB Beam RSRP” (similar for RSRQ).

Added Samsung support for the following Information Elements.

·        Serving Cell SSB Beam RSRP

·        Serving Cell SSB Beam RSRQ

·        Serving Cell SSB Beam Index
